Incident: Suspect fled from store security. Suspect made statements that he would shoot security if they continued to chase him.
Suspects: Scott Sloan, 49 years old, Santa Rosa Resident
Incident Summary: On January 11, 2016 at approximately 5:35PM Petaluma Police received a call from Kohl’s store security. Security officers were chasing a suspect that had just shoplifted items from the store. The suspect fled towards a large field off of Redwood Way. During the foot chase the suspect threatened to shoot store security if they continued to chase him, no firearm was seen. The suspect was last seen entering the field and stripping off his jacket and shirt. Petaluma Police Officers set a perimeter around the field and began to search for the subject. Officers located Scott Sloan lying down in foot tall weeds. Store security identified Sloan as the suspect who stole the items and threatened them. Store security placed Sloan under citizen’s arrest. Sloan was taken into custody by Petaluma Police Department.
