Burglary Arrest
WHAT: Arrest for Commercial Burglary
WHERE: 295 Higuera, The Sub
WHEN: January 7th at 11:57 PM
SUSPECT: Ronald Bolen, 27 year old resident of San Luis Obispo
DEPARTMENT CONTACT: Captain Chris Staley 781-7142
On Thursday evening, just before midnight, the San Luis Obispo Police Department received the report that a male subject had possibly broken into The Sub. The building has been boarded up and secured by perimeter fencing since the fire displaced the business. Officers responded to the area and were unable to locate anyone. Officers were told the male had fled the area just before officers arrived.
About thirty minutes later officers responded back to The Sub after the same male was seen back at the location carrying a pry bar. Officers conducted a search of the location and found one of the boarded windows had been forced open since leaving the first time. Items taken from inside the business had been hidden out of sight near this window. Those items were returned to a business employee.
Officers began conducting surveillance at the location pending the return of the suspect to take the property hidden by the window.
On Friday, at about 4:00 AM, officers located Ronald BOLEN inside the security fenced area as he returned to the window where the stolen property had been. BOLEN was taken into custody without incident. Officers located soot and ash on BOLAN’S clothing and he confessed to being inside the burnt building and placing the items at the window.
BOLEN was booked at County Jail on one count of commercial burglary. His bail was set at $20,000.
