Attempting to Elude Trooper Results in Arrest

Attempting to Elude Trooper Results in Arrest

Putnam County—On Thursday afternoon, January 7, at 3:00, Indiana State Police Trooper Mike Wood radar tracked a silver 2004 GMC SUV at 78 miles-per-hour in a 55mph zone, southbound on State Road 243 from Interstate 70. Trooper Wood turned around to stop the vehicle and the SUV suddenly drove into the driveway and around behind a residence at 8527 SR 243. The male passenger attempted to walk away from the vehicle, but was taken into custody by Trooper Wood. The male initially provided a false name and date of birth apparently to hinder the investigation. In the vehicle, troopers located approximately 25 grams of suspected marijuana in a bag. Troopers also discovered six hypodermic needles on the male.

Arrested:         Robert T. Robbins, age 26, of Cloverdale, IN.

                        Taken to Putnam County Jail

Charges:          Possession of Hypodermic Needles (felony); Identity Deception (felony); Possession of Marijuana (misdemeanor).

Robbins also had a Putnam County warrant on file for Driving While Suspended and Leaving the Scene of an Accident, both misdemeanors.

The female driver was not criminally charged.

Assisting were ISP Sergeant Cory Robinson and Trooper Yan Dravigne.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
