Two Injured in Sullivan County Crash

Sullivan County—This afternoon at 12:17, Indiana State Police and Sullivan County emergency agencies responded to a three vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of US 41 at a railroad crossing near County Road 850 North.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2009 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 69-year-old Aris Houser of Shelburn, IN., was northbound on US 41 and failed to stop or avoid a 2004 Pontiac 4d, driven by 38-year-old Kevin Simpson of Linton, IN., that was stopped for the activated red lights indicating a train near the crossing. The Simpson vehicle was then pushed into the rear of a stopped 2006 Buick 4d, driven by 67-year-old Betty Cooper of Terre Haute, IN.

Houser and Simpson were not injured. Betty Simpson and her passenger, 54-year-old Alamelu Emmanuel of Terre Haute were transported to Regional Hospital ER in Terre Haute for treatment of head, neck, and back pain.

The crash was investigated by ISP Troopers Polly Blackburn and Brad Miller. Assisting were ISP Sergeant Kris Fitzgerald and Master Trooper Tom Hanks, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office. Thunderbird Fire/Rescue, and Sullivan County EMS.

No tickets were issued and no pictures attached.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
