WHAT: Bank Robbery

WHERE: Heritage Oaks Bank (1501 Froom Ranch)

WHEN: January 4, 2016

On January 4, 2016 at approximately 2:22 PM the San Luis Obispo Police Department received a call of a silent alarm from Heritage Oaks Bank. The silent alarm had been activated by one of the bank tellers, indicating it was a “Hold Up” alarm. While officers were responding to the location they were able to confirm the bank had been robbed and that the suspect had already left the location. The suspect was described as a white male adult, in his late 50’s to early 60’s. He was wearing amber colored glasses and had a gray beard. The suspect had on a black hat, black jacket, black tee-shirt and jeans. He was last seen walking out of the bank towards Home Depot.

Witnesses stated the suspect entered the bank and approached one of the open tellers. He produced a handgun and demanded money. The money was then placed in a bag that the suspect was holding. The suspect then approached a second teller and again produced a handgun and demanded more money. After the money was placed in the bag, the suspect left the bank walking towards Home Depot. It is unknown at this time if he got into a vehicle or left on foot. The total lost is just over $5000.00.

Below is a picture of the suspect that was captured by bank security cameras. It is believed this suspect may be the same suspect that robbed a Goleta Union Bank approximately two months earlier.
