Joseph Fekete of Victorville was arrested after claiming to be a peace officer and peppering spraying a homeless man

SUMMARY: On Sunday January 3, 2016, at approximately 6:39 p.m.,, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to the Winco Store located on Roy Rogers Drive following the report of a homeless man being attacked with pepper spray. Upon arrival, deputies were advised that a white male, 50-60 years of age, driving a red Corvette, approached the victim and identifed himself as a peace officer. The suspect was not wearing a uniform and was not displaying an offical badge or any identification. When asked for identification to prove he was in law enforcement, the suspect walked to his vehicle and retrieved a can of pepper spray. The suspect, later identified as Joseph Fekete, then approached the victim and sprayed him in the face with the pepper spray. The suspect, Joseph Fekete, immediately fled the area.
Deputy Brosowske remembered a similiar incident and began a records check. He located information regarding Joseph Fekete and using a photo line-up, was able to obtain a positive identification. Mr. Fekete was located and booked at the High Desert Detention Center. Additional charges could be filed as more victims and similiar reports are located.
