SVPD Investigates ADW and Brandishing. Update: Suspect taken into custody without incident. 
U[date: The suspect was taken into custody without incident at 9:55 p.m. He was not injured.
On January 3, 2016 at about 3:32pm, Simi Valley Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Latham St in Simi Valley for a “weapon in progress” call.
A subject later identified as Raymond Williams, 72 year old male, assaulted his 50 year old nephew with a baseball bat as well as brandishing a handgun at him.
As the altercation progressed outside the home, the suspect re-entered the home by himself. Simi Valley Officers have been unsuccessful in their attempts to contact the subject in the house.
Simi Valley Police SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams have been deployed in an attempt to safely make contact.
Neighbors immediately surrounding the residence have been evacuated and are temporarily being re-located at the Police Department, assisted by the American Red Cross.
The victim received minor injuries.
An update will be provided as new information is gained and/or the event has been resolved.
