SUMMARY: On December 8, 2015 at about 7:30 p.m., Highland Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the 7800 Block of Lankershim Avenue regarding a violent sexual assault that had just occurred.

Investigation revealed that an unknown suspect forced entry into the 67 year old victim’s residence and attacked her as she watched television. The suspect then held the victim against her will inside of her home; during which he sexually assaulted her several times over a 4 hour period.

The suspect then stole personal items and cash from the victim and fled the scene. Deputies and Sheriff’s Detectives responded and conducted an extensive investigation. The victim was transported to a local hospital for her injuries.

DNA evidence was collected at the scene. That DNA evidence was analyzed by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Crime lab. On December 29, 2015, Investigators were notified that the DNA collected at the scene belonged to a 27 year old subject identified as Antawon Riley Stubblefield.

Stubblefield is currently on Felony Probation for Assault with a Deadly weapon as a result of a prior sexual assault investigation. He was also ordered to register as a Sex Offender as a result of that conviction.

On December 29, 2015, a felony “No Bail” warrant was issued for his arrest.

On December 30, 2015, Stubblefield reported to his probation officer; at which time he was detained by officers from the San Bernardino County Probation Department. Highland Sheriff’s Detectives responded and interviewed Stubblefield and obtained a statement from him.

Stubblefield was transported and booked into the West Valley Detention Center, and is being held without bail.

Detectives are releasing a photo of Stubblefield, as they believe there may be additional victims.
