WEEK IN REVIEW

Assault with a Deadly Weapon:
On Tuesday, Dec. 22nd, around 10 p.m., Ofc. Blanchard was dispatched to a gas station on Decoto Rd. on the report of a battery. The victim said that a suspect ran up to him and punched him in the back of the head. Other officers located the suspect nearby. Bobby Grigsby, a 29-year-old Union City resident, was arrested.

Vehicle Theft Arrest:
On Sunday, Dec. 27th, around 2:15 a.m., Ofc. Perry was conducting a routine security check in the area of Bridgepointe Place, when he observed a suspicious vehicle without a front license plate. A check of the vehicle’s VIN showed that it was reported stolen out of Fremont. The driver, Veronica Payne, a 36-year-old Hayward resident, was arrested for vehicle theft.

BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Dec. 21st through Sunday, Dec. 27th, there were three reported residential burglaries and two attempts:
• 100 block of Aurora Plaza: Occurred between Thursday, Dec. 24th at 10 a.m., and Friday, Dec. 25th at 12:15 a.m. The front door was possibly left unlocked. The house was ransacked, and the loss included electronics, jewelry and shoes.
• 2100 block of Sunsprite Dr.: Occurred between Friday, Dec. 25th at 3:30 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 26th at 8:20 a.m. Unknown entry; a door was possibly left unlocked. The loss included appliances and power tools.
• 4400 block of Pomponi St.: Occurred on Saturday, Dec. 26th, between 10 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. The rear glass sliding door was smashed, but there was no loss. The audible alarm may have scared off the suspects.
• 4700 block of Cabello St. (attempt only): Occurred on Thursday, Dec. 24th, around 3 p.m. Someone attempted entry into a locked storage shed.
• 35500 block of Monterra Terrace (attempt only): Occurred on Friday, Dec. 25th, around 5 p.m. The victim was away for the day. When he returned, he noticed that his patio screen door was open. He reviewed his surveillance video and saw that someone attempted to burglarize his residence. After posting the video on his Facebook page, someone identified the suspect. On Monday, Dec. 28th, UCPD detectives arrested John Winchester, a 45-year-old Livermore resident, for burglary. COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Dec. 21st through Sunday, Dec. 27th, there were two reported commercial burglaries:
• 100 block of Palm Dr.: Occurred between Sunday, Dec. 20th at 12 p.m., and Monday, Dec. 21st at 8:30 a.m. The front door was forced open, and the loss included hair care products.
• 34000 block of 7th St.: Occurred between Thursday, Dec. 24th at 4:30 p.m., and Friday, Dec. 25th at 8 a.m. A door was forced open. The loss included shoes, coats and sewing machines.

AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, Dec. 21st through Sunday, Dec. 27th, there were 11 reported auto burglaries, nine of which occurred in Union Landing. The burglars targeted vehicles that had purses, bags, backpacks, electronics and even gifts that were left in plain view on the seats or floorboards.

From Monday, Dec. 21st through Sunday, Dec. 27th, there were no reported vehicle thefts. However, there were three reports of stolen catalytic converters.
