HCSO: Christmas Comes to Harris County Jail

HARRIS COUNTY, TX - Select female inmates at the Harris County Jail will get the privilege of spending time with their children and celebrating a belated Christmas thanks to the non-profit organization Navidad en el Barrio.

On Wednesday, carefully chosen female inmates will have the opportunity to present their children with gifts donated by Navidad en el Barrio. There will also be food, drinks and a visit by Santa Claus - all courtesy of the organization.

Children accompanied by adults can visit inmates during routine visitation days throughout the year without physical contact. This is the sixth year the HCSO is partnering with Navidad en el Barrio to afford inmates the privilege of a “contact visit.”

Navidad en el Barrio is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the life of the less fortunate in our communities and bringing smiles to those who otherwise might have lost all hope.

RSVP to [email protected]. For security purposes, all attendees must respond with their name, Texas Driver’s License number and expiration date. A valid Texas Driver’s License must be presented upon entry. Security requirements allow recording equipment inside of the facility; all other personal property is prohibited. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to allow for security screening.
