Los Altos Police arrest two suspects for residential burglary

Between November 26, 2015 at approximately 9:00PM and November 27, 2015 at approximately 5:00AM, a residential burglary occurred in the 500 block of Deodara Drive in Los Altos.

The suspects entered the home and took valuable items such as cell phones and laptops. The residents were at home sleeping while this burglary took place and woke up Thanksgiving morning to find their home had been broken into.

Evidence located on the scene of the crime led Los Altos Police to identify two suspects. The suspects are 18 year old David Eastwood of Menlo Park and 19 year old Wilson Alejandre of San Jose.

Eastwood was arrested by the San Jose Police Department on November 28, 2015 for an unrelated case. Los Altos Police Detectives administratively booked Eastwood at the Santa Clara County Main Jail for the residential burglary and he has remained in custody since. Detectives also obtained an arrest warrant for Alejandre and on December 16, 2015 he was arrested by the San Jose Police Department. Both suspects are currently in custody at the Elmwood Correctional Facility.

The Los Altos Police Department would like to remind the public to be vigilant in:

Reporting suspicious activity in their neighborhoods (i.e. any individuals exhibiting behavior consistent with “casing” their neighborhood, aggressive solicitors, suspicious vehicles not known to the neighborhood, etc.).  When calling, the public is asked to articulate specific observations, which would substantiate their suspicions.

Securing their homes:  There are a variety of preventative measures community members can take to secure their homes and deter criminal activity.  Some of these techniques include installing burglar alarms, locking perimeter gates and access points, installing exterior motion lights, and video surveillance systems.  Any residents interested in receiving a free home security inspection are asked to contact Community Service Officer Josh Cottrell at (650) 947-2647.

Please report suspicious activity to the Los Altos Police Department at (650) 947-2770.

For emergency calls, or suspected in-progress crimes, please dial 9-1-1.
