2 injured in single vehicle crash

Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports that on 12-21-2015 at 0746 hours his office was called to Brosnan Rd near Downey St. in Silver Creek Township for the report of a personal injury crash. 27 year old Dowagiac resident, Samantha Weaver, and her passenger 2 year old, Maddix Weaver, were travelling north on Brosnan rd. According to Ms. Weaver a deer ran out in front of her, causing her to swerve. She began to panic while evading and was unable to recover control of the vehicle and struck a utitly box and tree. Pride Care ambulance service transport both parties to Borgess Hospital in Dowagiac, Michigan for treatment of injuries. Alcohol was not a factor and seat belts were used, however it appears that the child restraint was not properly utilized. This case remains under investigation.
