Mail thefts from McConihe Flats area rural mailboxes
Grant County deputies answered several calls for stolen and found mail today. It became apparent the mail was stolen from rural mailboxes in the McConihe Flats area north of Moses Lake. The mail was outgoing mail, and the thieves were probably drawn to the mailboxes by their raised red flags.
Deputies returned found mail to the senders’ addresses. It’s likely others are victims but just don’t know it yet.
To help prevent theft of outgoing mail from rural mailboxes, it’s safest – although not the most convenient – to take mail to the post office.
