Fatal Traffic Collision
On Tuesday December 15th, 2015 at 2:46 PM, the Gardena Police Department received a call of a traffic collision at Normandie Ave. and El Segundo Blvd. Upon arrival, officers found that one motorcycle rider and a single occupant of a silver Dodge Ram truck had become involved in a traffic collision. Los Angeles County Fire arrived to render aide.
A preliminary investigation revealed that two vehicles were involved in a serious traffic collision on El Segundo Blvd. just east of Normandie Ave. The collision occurred between a Honda Motorcycle and a Dodge Ram truck. The Dodge was traveling westbound El Segundo and turning southbound into a gas station. The motorcycle was traveling eastbound and collided into the front of the truck. The motorcycle then struck a fire-hydrant causing water to spray into the air. The motorcycle rider succumbed to his injuries as a result of the collision. The identification of the motorcycle rider is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin. The truck driver was unharmed.
This investigation is on-going and is being handled by the Gardena Police Department’s Traffic Bureau.
