“Police Blotter” Highlights – Ending Dec. 6th, 2015

ROBBERY
On Sunday, Dec. 6th, around 12:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Regents Blvd. and Union City Blvd. on reports of a road rage incident, which turned out to be a robbery. During a transaction to sell a car, two suspects robbed two victims at gun point and then fled in their vehicle. One of the victims followed the suspect vehicle, but the suspects rammed the victim’s vehicle and forced him off the road. The victim recorded the license plate of the suspect vehicle, which was associated to a suspect in Fremont.

On Dec. 9th, UCPD detectives and members of the Southern Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of To Nguyen, a 23-year-old Fremont resident, for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Detectives are still working to identify the second suspect, who was described as an Asian male in his mid-20s, bald, 5’5” to 5’10” and 130-160 lbs.

WEEK IN REVIEW

Stolen Property:
On Tuesday, Dec. 1st, officers were dispatched to Petco on the report of a theft. An employee reported that a male suspect was in a nearby business with a chinchilla that had been stolen a week prior. The suspect was located nearby with the stolen chinchilla and a stolen bicycle. Jeffrey Soriano, a 37-year-old Dublin resident, was arrested for possession of stolen property.

Vehicle Theft Arrest:
On Sunday, Dec. 6th, around 12:30 a.m., Ofc. Gannam was patrolling the area of Whipple Rd. and Industrial Parkway SW when he observed a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Fremont. Nesar Azimi, a 32-year-old Fremont resident, was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and various drug offenses.

BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Nov. 30th through Sunday, Dec. 6th, there was one reported residential burglary and one attempt:
• 4500 block of Ventura Way: Occurred between Saturday, Dec. 5th at 10:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 6th at 6 a.m. The rear sliding door and detached garage were unlocked. Some areas of the residence were ransacked, and the loss included electronics and motorcycle keys.
• 4700 block of Cabello St. (attempt only): Occurred on Friday, Dec. 4th, around 10 a.m. An unknown suspect broke the rear glass sliding door, but fled on foot when the resident yelled at him. The suspect could only be described as a male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Nov. 30th through Sunday, Dec. 6th, there were three reported commercial burglaries:
• 32900 block of Alvarado-Niles Rd.: Occurred between Wednesday, Nov. 25th at 5 p.m., and Monday, Nov. 30th at 8 a.m. The dock door was kicked in, and the loss is unknown at this time.
• 1500 block of Whipple Rd.: Occurred on Thursday, Dec. 3rd, around 1:45 a.m. The glass front door was smashed, and the loss is unknown at this time.
• 32900 block of Alvarado-Niles Rd.: Occurred on Sunday, Dec. 6th, around 5 a.m. Two suspects broke glass next to the front door with a rock. They unsuccessfully tried to steal computer monitors, but they were bolted to the desk. The suspects were captured on video surveillance, but the video quality was too poor to identify them.

AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, Nov. 30th through Sunday, Dec. 6th, there were six reported auto burglaries, all of which involved purses, backpacks and electronics that were left in plain view on the front or rear seats. Safety Tip: As a reminder, never leave items of value inside your vehicle!

From Monday, Nov. 30th through Sunday, Dec. 6th, there were nine reported vehicle thefts. Five of them were various Honda models. As of the time of this report, eight of the vehicles have been recovered.
