Morgan Hill Police Department Partners with The Edward Boss Prado Foundation

The Morgan Hill Police Department is proud to announce that it is partnering with the Edward Boss Prado Foundation to create the HOPE program, “homeless outreach through police and partnership efforts.” The HOPE program will stock every patrol car with a care package containing clothing and other materials vital for everyday comfort and confidence, including: towel, blanket, water, small food items, toothbrush & toothpaste, deodorant, etc. The care packages will be handed out by police officers during the course of their duties as they come into contact with the less fortunate or those down on their luck. Morgan Hill Police Department has high hopes that positive interactions with law enforcement will help to maximize the feeling of confidence and ability to walk with dignity and a head held high as these individuals are treated/recognized as members of our community.

Cecelia’s Closet is one of the many outreach programs created and organized by the Edward Boss Prado Foundation, which has been serving the Gilroy, San Martin and Morgan Hill communities since 2013. The Foundation and the Morgan Hill Police Department Homeless Liaison program identified a need and an opportunity in our local community to turn a police contact into more than an enforcement action. The HOPE program provides the less fortunate with basic amenities while treating them with dignity. It can also connect them with local food, housing and medical service resources.
