More detail on IH-40/Coulter accident.
At 729 PM, officers responded to a major accident at IH-40 and Waldorf, east of Coulter. A Ford pickup had been eastbound on IH40 just east of Coulter when the driver lost control. The pickup then struck a tractor-trailer that was eastbound. The truck left the roadway, crossed the access road, and struck trees on both sides of Waldorf before continuing up into the Outback Steakhouse parking lot. The truck struck several cars and continued on to strike the west side of the building. At this point, officers think at least six cars parked along the west side of the building were hit. The truck hit and went through a wall into what was believed to be an employee area of the restaurant. At this time, it appears that no one inside the business was injured. The two occupants of the truck were injured. One has non life threatening injuries and AFD is working to take the other occupant of the truck out of the vehicle. The driver of the Ford involved in the initial collision was not injured. Emergency responders will be on the scene for some time as vehicles are removed. The IH-40 access road east of Coulter will remain closed until the scene is clear, and APD Traffic Investigations is on the scene.
