Home Delivered Package Thefts Alert

It has been reported, a female with black hair, 5'05/150, in her 40's, wearing a striped shirt and blue jeans was recently seen in the North Hills area riding a blue beach cruiser bike w/basket stealing a Fed Ex package from a residence front porch.  She picked up the package, placed it into a plastic bin, and left the location.  Attached to this message is a picture of the female and summary of this email.  If you see her or have any information please call Mission front desk at 818-838-9800.

This is one of many incidents where a suspect will steal a delivered package from one's front porch.  Criminals will follow the delivery truck and wait for the package to be delivered.  They then run up to the door and steal it.

With online shopping becoming a more common thing this is something that will become more an issue.  But there are a few things one can do to prevent becoming a victim.  If the option is available, pick that someone must sign for the package when delivered. If you own a PO Box and the company allows it, have the package delivered there.  See if the company shipping will provide an estimate time of delivery so you or someone you trust can be at home when the package arrives.  If you don't have any way or anyone who can be home, another idea would be speak to a reliable neighbor or friend and have the package delivered to them if they are going to be home.
