$4770.00 is raised for American Cancer Society during "No Shave November".
No Shave November
In combined efforts, the Jackson Police Department and Madison County Sheriff’s Department employees raised $4,770 for the American Cancer Society by participating in “No Shave November.”
Police Chief Julian Wiser and Sheriff John Mehr suspended their departments’ clean-shaven policy during November to allow employees to participate in the Relay for Life Team’s fundraiser for the cancer society.
Employees who donated to Relay for Life didn’t have to shave. Employees surpassed the $3,500 fundraising goal for the year.
“This was an excellent opportunity to partner with the Sheriff’s Department and help raise money for the American Cancer Society in its continued efforts of eliminating cancer, Chief Wiser said.
Sheriff Mehr added, “This is another example of how our agencies continue to cooperate to improve relationships and build a healthy community while contributing to a great cause. We encourage citizens to get involved in supporting Relay for Life.”
