APD investigating Sunday afternoon theft and aggravated assault incident near downtown. No arrest at this time.

On Sunday November 22nd at 1:32pm, APD officers were dispatched to a theft that had just occurred in the 500 block of SE 10th. Upon Arrival officers spoke with the store owner who advised that B/M teenagers was walking by the store when one of the males grabbed a camouflage smart board and then all three took off running. The males got inside a maroon Mercury Grand Marquis that was being driven by another B/M and left the area. An employee seeing what occurred got in his own vehicle and chased the occupants down where he cornered them at NE 4th and Buchanan. The employee approached the vehicle in an attempt to retrieve the stolen smart board. A passenger in the Mercury exited the car and pointed a pistol at the employee. The employee fearing for his safety returned back to his vehicle then back to the store. The suspect that was armed with the pistol is only described as a B/M 16-18 years old with a shaved head wearing a white t shirt. No one was injured during the theft and aggravated assault incident.
