Personal Injury Accident on US-12


Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. reports that Deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of US-12 just east of M-40 on November 21, 2015 at 11:49 am for a personal injury traffic crash. Investigation showed that a east bond vehicle driven by Marlin Duane Bowers from White Pigeon age 69 lost control of his vehicle, swerved into the west bond lane of traffic and collided with the guard rail. Dana Cheyenne Odell from White Pigeon age 41, who was traveling in the west bond lane, was unable to stop and collided with Marlin. Dana was transported to Elkhart general hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash. Marlin had no apparent injuries and refused medical treatment. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Assisting Deputies at the scene were Michigan State Police, SEPSA Fire Department, Edwardsburg and Portage Ambulance services.
