Update: The carjacked vehicle was involved in a felony hit and run traffic collision in the City of Gardena. A suspect fled the vehicle on foot but was located by Gardena police officers. ESPD officers responded to the scene and arrested him on the suspicion of carjacking.
Officers are currently investigating a carjacking that occurred tonight at approx 6pm in the 1900 block of E. Mariposa Ave. A woman was punched by a male suspect who took her red 2008 Honda Fit and was last seen driving southbound Sepulveda Blvd.
The suspect is described as a male black adult in his 20's, 5'11", 170 pounds, with short black hair. Suspect was wearing a black t-shirt and black pants. ESFD paramedics are treating the woman for her injuries.
