Royal City, Wash (20NOV2015): The two victims and a suspect in a shooting at Callahan Manufacturing, Royal City, have been identified. The shooting took place at approximately 8am this morning. One of the victims died at the scene and the other was airlifted to an unspecified hospital.
The deceased victim, Joel Rodriguez, age 49 of Quincy, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified. His body is in the care of the Grant County Coroner’s Office pending an autopsy.
The surviving victim, Augustin Verduzco Sanchez, age 55 of Soap Lake, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and reportedly remains in critical condition.
The suspect has been identified as Eduardo Ibarra-Valencia, age 30 of Royal City. He has been booked into Grant County Jail on suspicion of first degree murder and attempted first degree murder.
The preliminary information suggests the shooting resulted from a confrontation between employees. No other specific motive information is available.
Sheriff Tom Jones said, "This is a tragedy, and I hope the community will join us in sharing our sincerest condolences and support to the families of Mr. Rodriguez and Mr. Sanchez."
