Alert

Severe Storms possible this afternoon and evening.

A strong cold front will be moving across North and Central Georgia tonight.  A large area of rain and thunderstorms over Alabama will move into North and Central Georgia this afternoon and continue across the area tonight.  Instability will continue to increase this afternoon ahead of the cold front, with the increasing instability and wind shear, this will allow a few storms to become severe.

The main threats from the severe storms will be damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.  The main time frame for the severe storms will be after 1 PM this afternoon through midnight tonight.

In addition, showers and thunderstorms will result in moderate to heavy rain along and ahead of the cold front.  For this reason a Flood Watch remains in effect for North Georgia.

Also strong south to southeast winds will increase across much of North Georgia.  A Wind Advisory remains in effect for much of North Georgia.

All persons across North and Central Georgia should be weather aware this afternoon and evening.  Monitor local media and/or NOAA Weather for later watches, warnings and statements.
