11/17/15, press release: Aggravated Assault

This morning at approximately 11:45 officers responded to 1505 North Avenue for an alleged disturbance involving a handgun. It was reported that a male who was identified as Thomas J. Keefe pointed a handgun at the victim and threatened her prior to leaving the scene.

Only minutes later Keefe was located by officers operating a motor vehicle on the beltline near Manhattan Drive. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop, during which time the beltline was closed as a precaution for public safety.

Keefe was found to be in possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun. Keefe was taken into custody and brought to the police station to be processed for aggravated assault. Keefe has no prior police record and is not Brady disqualified. Keefe will be arraigned in court later this afternoon.

Keefe and the victim are known to each other and it is unclear what started the disturbance, however drugs and or robbery have been ruled out. The victim was not injured during the incident.
