Traffic Collision Fatality in Walnut Creek

On 11/12/15 at approximately 5:58 PM, Walnut Creek Police dispatch began receiving 911 calls regarding a traffic accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred in front of 2100 Tice Valley Boulevard.
A 90-year-old Walnut Creek resident was crossing Tice Valley Blvd. when she was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Tice Valley Boulevard. The victim was transported to John Muir Hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 6:33 PM.
The 69-year-old driver of the vehicle, a San Pedro resident, was not injured in the collision and is cooperating fully with investigators. There is no indication that drugs or alcohol was involved in this collision.
Although the investigation continues, it appears the victim was crossing within a crosswalk when struck by the northbound vehicle. Darkness appears to have been a contributing factor in this collision.
The Contra Costa County Coroner's office will be releasing the victim's information once next of kin is notified.
