The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
November 2, 2015
0920 Hours: Officer Musantry arrested a 51year old female of Newark for 166.4 PC - violation of a court order. She was released after being issued a citation and a court date.
1317 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted a 42 year old male of Newark. During the contact Officer Mapes found methamphetamine. The male was arrested for 11377 H&S- possession of methamphetamine and released on a citation with a court date.
1317 Hours: Officer Neithercutt responded to 35192 Newark Blvd (McDonald’s) for a disturbance between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The victim was contacted and advised that her 36 year old boyfriend of Newark had grabbed her by the wrist and refused to allow her to leave the restaurant. The male was taken into custody for 273.6 PC - violation of domestic violence restraining order and 243e1 PC- domestic violence. He was later booked at Fremont Jail.
1547 Hours: Officers were dispatched to a physical altercation between a husband and wife. A 34 year old female of Newark was arrested for 243(e)(1) PC- domestic violence. She was taken into custody and later booked at Santa Rita Jail. A judge issued an emergency protective order to help protect the victim.
1734 Hours: Officer Katz arrested a 53 year old male of Newark for his outstanding felony warrant. He was booked at Fremont Jail.
November 3, 2015
0634 Hours: A warrant service at a residence on Sunset Ave. by Officer Allum resulted in the arrest of a 27 year old male of Newark for a misdemeanor warrant. He was booked at Fremont PD Jail.
1207 Hours: During a follow up investigation on Shana St. in Fremont, Officer Mapes arrested a 32 year old male of Fremont for a felony warrant. He was booked at Fremont PD Jail.
1340 Hours: A probation search by Officer Homayoun at a residence on Mayhews Landing Rd. resulted in the arrest of a 39 year old male of Newark for possession of concentrated cannabis. He was cited for 11357(a)H&S.
1505 Hours: Officer Mapes conducted a probation search at a residence on Sunrose Ave. which resulted in the arrest of a 50 year male of Newark for possession of methamphetamine. He was cited for 11377(a)H&S - possession of methamphetamine.
1616 Hours: Officer Rodgers contacted a 23 year old male of Newark regarding a warrant. He was issued a new court date and released.
1824 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated a shoplifting case from Macy’s. A 20 year old female of Oakland was arrested for theft and a no-cite warrant. She was booked at Fremont Jail.
November 4, 2015
1146 Hours: Officer Heckman contacted and arrested a 59 year old transient female for an outstanding arrest warrant. She was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
1513 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted three transients in the area of St Isabel Avenue and the railroad tracks. A 42 year old transient female, was arrested for possessing drug paraphernalia and identity theft. She was transported to Fremont Jail. At the jail it was discovered that she had concealed methamphetamine on her person, resulting in an additional charge of 4573 PC.
During this contact, a 42 year old male was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and a 40 year old male was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. They were also transported to Fremont Jail.
1545 Hours: Officer Rodgers contacted and arrested a 34 year old male of Newark for possessing drug paraphernalia (11364 H&S). He was transported and booked into Fremont Jail.
1735 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated a shoplifting case from Macy’s. He accepted the arrest of a 37 year old female of Fremont and she was released with a citation for theft.
2126 Hours: Officer Kovach contacted a 50 year old male of Newark during a traffic stop. He was arrested for DUI. He was cited from NPD.
November 5, 2015
0922 Hours: Officer Heckman contacted and arrested a 27 year old male of Fair Oaks for possessing a controlled substance (11377(a) H&S) and for possessing concentrated cannabis (11357(a) H&S). He was issued a citation and was released.
1732 Hours: Officer Jackman responded to the NewPark Mall JC Penny’s for a shoplifter in custody. Officer Jackman accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 18 year old female of Union City for petty theft (484 PC). She was issued a citation and was released.
2243 Hours: Officer Geser investigated a domestic violence incident where a 46 year old male of Newark was arrested for 273.5 PC – felony domestic violence and booked at Santa Rita Jail.
2319 Hours: Officer Horst responded to an armed robbery in the Food Maxx parking lot. One suspect was described as a short and thin black male adult with a handgun, the other was described as a tall chubby black male adult. The loss was $85 cash and the victim’s car keys. The victim was not injured.
November 6, 2015
0717 Hours: Officer Heckman responded to a residence in the 6500 block of Lafayette Ave, for a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance. Officer Heckman contacted and arrested a 38 year old male of Newark for public intoxication (647(f) PC). He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
1830 Hours: Macy’s Loss Prevention staff placed a 43 year old female of Fremont under arrest for shoplifting. While in Macy’s custody, she kicked one of the Loss Prevention staff members, fortunately no one was injured. She was cite released for 484(a)PC- petty theft and 242 PC – battery (kick).
2221 Hours: CSO Parks investigated a theft of a cell phone and cash from a Silliman Center locker that occurred between 1900-2000 hours.
0143 Hours: Officer Losier observed a vehicle parked in the Arteaga’s lot with its turn signal activated and a 22 year old male of Newark passed out in the driver seat. He was arrested for DUI and was booked at Fremont PD Jail for 23152(a) VC.
November 7, 2015
0610 Hours: Officer Losier responded to a male slumped over the steering wheel of his running vehicle in front of 37490 Birch St. Officers arrived and contacted a 34 year old male of Newark who appeared to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol. During the investigation he attempted to avoid arrest by giving his brother’s name and birthdate. Upon being arrested officers located cocaine on the male. Once officers were able to identify the driver it was discovered he was on active probation for DUI, suspended from driving for DUI, and in need of an ignition interlock device to operate a motor vehicle. He was later booked at Fremont Jail for 23152(e) CVC - DUI, 14601.2a CVC- driving with a suspended license, 23247(e) CVC- driving a vehicle without an interlock device, 148.9 PC- lying to a police officer, and 11350 H&S- possession of cocaine.
0905 Hours: Officer Mapes responded to a residence in the 5100 block of DuPont Ave regarding a disturbance between roommates. A 53 year old male of Newark was arrested and booked at Santa Rita Jail for an outstanding warrant. The disturbance was resolved.
1842 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated an auto burglary in the Newpark Mall JC Penney’s parking lot between 1740-1842 hours. Loss was a white iPad mini.
2329 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated a window smash auto burglary that occurred in the Bombay Garden parking lot located at 5995 Mowry Ave between 2100-2329 hours. Loss was a purse.
November 8, 2015
1443 Hours: Officer Musantry conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle that had no plates displayed. The driver, a 53 year old male of Oakland was contacted and found to be driving on a suspended drivers license. Officer Musantry located drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. During questioning, the male revealed he had cocaine concealed on his body. The drugs were retrieved by Officer Musantry. The driver was released on citation.
1745 Hours: Officer Mapes located a stolen Dodge minivan parked in front of a residence in the 35400 block of Newark Blvd. The van was returned to its owner.
The van was parked in front of a known probationer’s apartment. Officer Musantry along with several other officers contacted the probationer, a 28 year old male of Newark, and arrested him for a misdemeanor warrant. Officers also located drug paraphernalia. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
1842 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated a non-injury/hit and run traffic collision that occurred on Mowry Ave.
November 9, 2015
0659 Hours: Officer Katz investigated two garage burglaries that occurred in the area of 39900 Parada St. The suspects forced entry by using a screwdriver to punch the center lock. It appears several other houses had their garage locks tampered with.
0845 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated a theft at Newark Fence Co. located at 6815 Central Ave. The company had tools stolen from three trucks. Several nail guns, saws and drills were stolen.
1125 Hours: Officer Musantry noticed a white Buick with expired vehicle registration parked near Carl’s Jr. (Thornton Avenue). The vehicle nearly hit Officer Musantry as it backed out of its parking stall. Officer Musantry contacted the driver a 36 year old male of Newark and discovered he had outstanding no bail misdemeanor warrants. He was booked at Fremont Jail.
November 10, 2015
0835 Hours: Officer Allum handled a non-injury traffic collision (vehicle vs. parked vehicle) involving an unlicensed driver that occurred on Cedar Blvd. in front of June Whiteford School.
0854 Hours: A 28 year old female of San Jose wandered onto the grounds of Newark Memorial High School and was contacted by SRO Sandoval. She was on searchable probation out of Santa Clara County and was found in possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked at Fremont PD Jail for 11364H&S.
1523 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated a minor injury/complaint of pain traffic collision involving two vehicles that occurred at the intersection of Central Ave./Sycamore St.
1619 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated another minor injury/complaint of pain traffic collision involving two vehicles that occurred on Cherry St. near Central Ave.
1801 Hours: Officer Norvell investigated a non injury solo vehicle collision involving a light pole at Cedar Boulevard/Balentine Drive. No drugs or alcohol involved. Cal-West was called out to deal with the exposed wires and light pole.
