Date: 11/09/15 Time: 1047 Beat: 20

Location: 9th Street and D Avenue

Type: Felony Resisting Arrest

Synopsis: Officers were assigned to investigate reports of two males fighting at the above location. Officers arrived and found a male (23-year-old National City resident) and his father involved in an argument. The male was visibly upset and noncompliant with police. The male refused to remove his hands from his pockets. He also resisted the officers’ attempt to control him and take him down to the ground. During the struggle, the male escaped and led officers on a short foot pursuit but was caught and was tased twice; the first deployment was ineffective. The male was transported to Paradise Valley Hospital to be medically cleared prior to being booked into San Diego Central Jail for felony resisting arrest (PC § 69) and being under the influence of a controlled substance (H&S § 11550). During the confrontation an officer was inadvertently struck with a baton and complained of having moderate pain to his thigh; he did not require medical treatment.

Type: Felony Warrant/Forgery

Synopsis: On the above listed date and time, National City Police Officers initiated a traffic stop on a 2010 Honda that was being driven by a male (34 year old resident of Portland Oregon). The male provided officers with a fraudulent identification and ran as he was being removed from the vehicle. After a short foot pursuit, Officers were able to detain the male and learned he had an active felony warrant for his arrest. A search of the vehicle, subsequent to arrest, revealed several fraudulent credit cards, laptop computers as well as a machine that is used to emboss credit cards. These items were seized as evidence and the male was charged with numerous felonies related to forgery and counterfeiting.

Location: 401 Mile of Cars & 300-400 West 22nd Street

Type: Strong Armed Robbery and Resisting Officers (69 P.C.)

Synopsis: On the above listed date and time, Officers responded to the area of the ITT College to investigate a report of an attempted strong armed robbery. Officers saw a male (23 year old National City resident) that matched the suspect’s description around the corner from where the robbery was reported. Officers attempted to detain the male using verbal commands. The male responded by taking a boxer’s/fighting stance and began walking towards the two officers. An officer used his baton to stop the male and this tactic was unsuccessful and the male was taken to the ground. Another officer utilized his Taser to drive stun the male which was also unsuccessful. Using arrest and defensive tactic control holds, the male was eventually placed in handcuffs. He was positively identified by the victim as the suspect in the robbery. The male was booked into county jail on the robbery charge and for resisting arrest.
