NARRATIVE:
On 11/9/15 at 0750 hours, WCPD Dispatch began receiving numerous 911 calls regarding a vehicle vs pedestrian traffic collision on eastbound Treat Blvd at Candelero Drive.
A pedestrian (a 56 year old female Walnut Creek resident) was transported to John Muir Hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 0915 hours.
The driver (a 44 year old male residing in Manteca) was not injured. He is cooperating with investigators and there are no indications that any drugs or alcohol were involved.
The investigation continues, but preliminary indications are that the driver was eastbound Treat Blvd, ran a red light and struck the pedestrian, who was in the crosswalk crossing Treat Blvd. The vehicle then struck a second vehicle. There were no other injuries in the collision.
Eastbound lanes of Treat Blvd were closed from Cherry Lane to Bancroft Road and all lanes reopened at approximately 1305 hours.
The Contra Costa County Coroner’s office will be releasing information on the victim, once next of kin are notified.
