Fatal Traffic Collision

On Saturday November 11th, 2015 at 1:54PM, the Gardena Police Department received a call of a traffic collision at Vermont Ave. and Magnolia Ave. Upon arrival, officers found one conscious occupant of a Toyota Scion and two unconscious adults in a Nissan Maxima. All were treated by Los Angeles County Fire Paramedics.

A preliminary investigation revealed that two vehicles were involved in a serious traffic collision at the intersection of Vermont Ave. and Magnolia Ave. The collision occurred between a green 2006 Toyota Scion and a gray 2004 Nissan Maxima. The Scion was traveling south bound in the number two lane of the 15600 block of Normandie Ave. when it struck the Maxima which had been traveling west bound on Magnolia Ave.

All three individuals were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The elderly driver of the Maxima succumbed to his injuries as a result of the collision. The elderly passenger of the Maxima remains in critical condition. Next of kin has yet to be identified.

This investigation is on-going and is being handled by the Gardena Police Department’s Traffic Bureau.
