On 11-07-15 at 12:09am, the Brown County Communications Center received a call of a “wrong way” driver travelling north in the southbound lanes of travel on State Hwy 57 near Nicolet Drive on the northeast side of Green Bay.

While officers were responding to the area to check on the vehicle, there was a report of a traffic crash involving the same wrong way driver on Hwy 57 at Algoma Rd. The crash involved a second vehicle and resulted in one of the vehicles overturning and rolling. Rescue personnel were dispatched at this point based on the potential seriousness of the crash.

When officers arrived they located the driver of the vehicle, that had been properly travelling south, outside of his vehicle. The driver was the lone occupant and indicated that his vehicle had overturned as a result of the crash. This driver sustained injuries that did not necessitate transport to a hospital.

The driver of the wrong way vehicle was found, still in his vehicle, and in need of emergency medical assistance. The injuries this driver sustained appeared more serious. Rescue personnel transported him to a local hospital for treatment. This driver was identified as a 30 year old New Franken resident. He is currently still being treated for injuries. OWI causing injury charges are expected to be requested.

State Hwy 57 southbound lanes were completely shut down for approximately three hours to allow for the crash investigation and clean up.
