Theft Suspect Arrested

On November 3, 2015, Investigators from the Jackson Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, Metro Narcotics, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office arrested a juvenile theft suspect during an undercover operation.

In the last month, several thefts involving cell phones being sold over Facebook had been reported. Investigators developed a suspect and arranged the purchase of a phone over the social media site. During this transaction, the suspect stole money from an undercover officer and was immediately arrested. This investigation is ongoing.

The Jackson Police Department wants to use this moment to emphasize safety. If you are meeting people to pay for items purchased on-line, meet in public places. Meeting in public places helps minimize crimes of opportunity.

Again, the Jackson Police Department is asking the community to work together and with officers to help keep Jackson safe. As a department, we want the holiday season to be safe and remain a time of joy for all citizens of this community.
