On October 14, 2015, the Oakland Police Department sent out information via a press release and social media postings about the announcement of an arrest warrant for Kejuan Hill in the murder of Charles Hill III. The suspect and victim are not related, but knew each other at the time of the shooting.
Shortly after, Oakland Police investigators received information of Kejuan Hill’s location in Kansas City. Investigators relayed the information, and efforts were coordinated with the United States Marshals Service and the Kansas City Missouri Police Department Task Force. Ultimately, suspect Kejuan Hill, 21 years old, was arrested in Kansas City, where he was working under an assumed identity at a local business.

BACKGROUND
On March 23, 2012, just after 10:00PM, officers responded to the 2500 block of Church Street on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they located Charles Hill III, 16, of Hayward, suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical personnel transported Charles Hill III to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Suspect Kejuan Hill was 17 years old at the time of the shooting. The Alameda County District Attorney's Office will prosecute him as an adult.
