Deputies search south Grant County lake for missing Connell man

Near POTHOLES RESERVOIR, Wash. (04NOV2015) – Grant County authorities spent most of Wednesday searching a south Grant County lake for a Connell man who is missing and may have fallen into the water.

Authorities searched Long Lake for 65-year-old Khampheng Soumphakdy after relatives alerted them early Wednesday after finding his pickup truck parked near Long Lake south of Potholes Reservoir. His eight foot aluminum boat was found empty floating on the lake. Sheriff’s Search and Rescue deputies flew over Long Lake but found no signs of Soumphakdy.

Family had reported Soumphakdy missing to Connell Police. He was last seen around 3 p.m. on Nov. 2. Family said that Long Lake is a favorite fishing spot for Soumphakdy. There are no signs of foul play. Search efforts will continue Thursday.

He is described as a Laotian male, 5’ 7” tall, 160 lbs. It’s not certain what he was last wearing.
