Vehicle Thefts Lead To Arrest

Vehicle Thefts Lead To Arrest Ripon Ca. -

During the early morning hours of 11-02-15, suspects stole three Chevrolet pickups and one utility trailer. Several other vehicles were broken into, and items were stolen from a residential garage.

Due to the quick response of citizen victims, witnesses, and the police, all of the stolen vehicles, including the stolen trailer, were recovered within three hours.

One victim posted photos of his custom pickup on social media. Due to his post, the Ripon Police Department became aware that the vehicle was traveling toward the bay area. Ripon dispatchers quickly relayed the information to allied agencies. The California Highway Patrol, Golden Gate Division, arrested one suspect in this stolen custom truck. Detectives with Ripon’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) are working with allied agencies in this ongoing investigation.

Ripon citizens are being urged to lock their vehicles, activate alarms, utilize kill-switches or steering wheel “Clubs.” Vehicles should be locked in the garage when possible. Any items of value such as tools, electronics and firearms should not be kept in parked vehicles.

Citizens are being asked to call the police department immediately if they see or hear anything unusual. Police patrols of local neighborhoods are being increased.
