Police and Fire Officials investigate Saturday Arson Fire in Danville

Danville Police and the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District are investigating a fire at a home on Linda Mesa Avenue that has been determined to have been caused by arson.

Police Chief Steve Simpkins said at approximately 8:20 p.m. on October 31, 2015 police responded to assist the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District with an arson investigation in the 300 block of West Linda Mesa Avenue. Witnesses told police they saw a subject throw an object at the home and then left the scene at a high rate of speed.

When officers arrived at the scene the home was fully engulfed and SRVFPD was working to bring the fire under control.

SRVFPD Battalion Chief Jim Selover said firefighters aggressively attacked the fire, and had it contained within 30 minutes. The fire was limited to the single structure.

SRVFPD Deputy Fire Marshall David Stevens said damage to the home was estimated at $210,000. Stevens said the home was determined to be empty at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

No arrests have been made at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
