On October 30, 2015, at approximately 7:18 P.M., Turlock Police Dispatch received numerous calls of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision in the area of Lander Avenue and Bernell Avenue. When officers arrived they located a female, 55 years old, who had suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. The female quickly transported to Emanuel Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. The Turlock Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) was activated to investigate the collision.

Preliminarily investigation indicates that the driver of the vehicle, female 59 years old, was traveling northbound Lander Avenue at an unknown speed. The decedent was crossing Lander Avenue on foot from the west to the east within the crosswalk. The vehicle struck the pedestrian causing her to go airborne then land on the pavement just north of the intersection.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative with officers throughout the investigation. Officers eliminated alcohol as the cause of the collision. The identity of the decedent will not be released at this time.
