Two Arrested for Petty Theft and Possession of Stolen Property

On Sunday, October 25, 2015, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Signal Hill Police Officers were dispatched the Bixby Ridge housing tract, after a resident in the area called 911. The resident happened to see two subjects checking and attempting to open unlocked car doors of the vehicles parked along the 2500 block of Amelia Court. The resident reported the subjects were wearing dark clothing, and carrying a bag or a box.

When Officers arrived, they immediately searched the area and drove through Amelia Court and Avis Court. Two juveniles walking in the area were detained by Officers. In an attempt to rid themselves of any evidence of a crime, one of the suspects was seen throwing a purse in a front yard. Officers also reported that one of the suspects wasn’t able to get rid of the stolen GPS device in his pocket quickly enough. Upon inspection of the GPS device, Officers discovered that the “Home” button identified a victim’s address in the area, opposed to the subjects’ grandmother’s home, which is what he told Officers.

Both of the juveniles were arrested for theft and possession of stolen property and booked at the Signal Hill jail facility.
