ASSAULT WITH DEADLY WEAPON
On Monday, Oct. 19th, around 7:30 a.m., Ofc. Paul was dispatched to the 32000 block of Dyer St. on the report of a battery that had occurred the day prior. The incident was eventually deemed to be an assault with deadly weapon with possible great bodily injury. The victim asked the suspect to leave the premises, after other customers complained that the suspect was bothering customers and asking for money. The suspect threw a hot cup of coffee on the victim’s face and neck. He was subsequently identified by the victim and arrested.

On Friday, Oct. 23rd, around 9:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to 10th St. on the report of an assault with a deadly weapon. During an argument, the suspect hit the victim in the neck with a glass bottle or wine glass. The suspect was identified by the victim and arrested.

ARSON
On Monday, Oct. 19th, around 10:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to Arroyo Park on a reported arson. Four males and a female were seen in the area, lighting the tennis court nets on fire. Two males fled from police, and the other three subjects were detained, questioned and released. They all denied setting the fire.

BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Oct. 19th through Sunday, Oct. 25th, there were five reported residential burglaries:
• 2400 block of Almaden Blvd.: Occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 20th, between 12 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. A window was smashed. The residence was ransacked, and the loss included jewelry, electronics and cash.
• 2100 block of Dalton Way: Occurred on Thursday, Oct. 22nd, between 10:10 a.m. and 12 p.m. A window was left unlocked. The residence was ransacked, and the loss is unknown at this time.
• 4300 block of Horner St.: Occurred on Friday, Oct. 23rd, between 6:30 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. A window was pried, and the loss included jewelry, electronics and cash.
• 32000 block of Alvarado-Niles Rd.: Occurred on Sunday, Oct. 25th, between 4 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. Unknown entry; the suspect possibly had a key. A purse was stolen from a hotel room.
• 100 block of Kathy Ct.: Occurred on Sunday, Oct. 25th, around 6:30 p.m. The suspect entered the home through an unlocked sliding glass door, walked around the living room, and left. There was no loss. The suspect was described as a bald Asian male adult, 18-22 years old, 5’10” to 6’1” and 140-160 lbs.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Oct. 19th through Sunday, Oct. 25th, there were no reported commercial burglaries.

AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, Oct. 19th through Sunday, Oct. 25th, there were nine reported auto burglaries, and almost all of them involved items that were left in plain view on the floorboards or seats. More than 50% of them occurred in the Union Landing shopping center. Safety Tip: As a reminder, never leave items of value inside your vehicle!

From Monday, Oct. 19th through Sunday, Oct. 25th, there were two reported vehicle thefts. Both of the vehicles were recovered.

UCPD CEREMONY OF HONORS, NOV. 5
Please join us on Thursday, Nov. 5th, at 5:30 p.m., as the Union City PD holds a ceremony to honor several police officers and civilian personnel. The ceremony will be held at the James Logan High School Center for the Performing Arts and will be followed by a reception.
