Kokomo Man Arrested on Numerous Charges after Short Foot and Vehicle Pursuit

 

Kokomo – Last night a short vehicle pursuit led to the arrest of Roger Hicks, 41, Kokomo, IN. Hicks was incarcerated in the Howard County Jail to face criminal charges for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, dealing methamphetamine, possession of a scheduled IV narcotic, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, criminal mischief, and resisting law enforcement (without a vehicle). Hicks was also arrested on a Howard County arrest warrant alleging six criminal charges.

Last night, at approximately 10:09 p.m., Indiana State Trooper Steven Glass was on routine patrol when he initiated a traffic stop on a 1998 Ford SUV, for a traffic violation on Sycamore Street near Webster Street, in Kokomo. The driver of the Ford, later identified as Hicks, led the trooper on an approximately one minute vehicle pursuit, ending in the Wells Fargo parking lot on Sycamore Street. Hicks purportedly stopped the Ford and fled on foot. He was quickly captured by Trooper Glass.

During the vehicle pursuit, Trooper Glass allegedly observed Hicks throwing items from the Ford. During a subsequent search of the area, officers  a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.  A search of the Ford revealed more marijuana, methamphetamine, prescription medication, and drug paraphernalia.

 

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
