Concerned Citizen Dials Trooper Direct to Report DUI
Vigo County—This afternoon at 1:30, on duty Indiana State Police Master Trooper Jason Schoffstall received a cell phone call from a friend reporting a possible impaired driver northbound on Hunt Street from the area of US 40. M/Trooper Schoffstall located the silver 1999 Chevrolet pickup driving erratic northbound on Hunt Street near Old Fort Harrison Road. The driver displayed classic signs of intoxication and alcoholic containers were present in the vehicle. The driver was taken to Union Hospital in Terre Haute where a blood test revealed he was .302% nearly four times the legal amount for intoxication. The driver was then incarcerated in the Vigo County Jail.
Arrested: Ross E. Davis, age 70, of Terre Haute, IN.
Charge: Operating While Intoxicated (felony for previous conviction) and Open Alcoholic Container Violation
Assisting was ISP Master Trooper Hans Nowak and Trooper Brandon Mullen.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
