Road Closure - Santee

A liquid bleach spill near Rio Seco Elementary School in Santee has been resolved.

Classes have resumed. Parents who wish to take students home for the remainder of the day are asked to park at the Food 4 Less (9430 Cuyamaca Street). Sheriff's Deputies will be escorting you to the school's multi-purpose room to pick up your children.

Cuyamaca Street between Mast Boulevard and Mission Creek Drive remain closed. It will open as soon as firefighters, County Hazmat and deputies leave the scene.

If you live or work in Santee, be aware of increased law enforcement activity in your area.

The Santee Fire Department and County HAZMAT are responding to reports of a bleach-like smell around Rio Seco Elementary School in the 9500 block of Cuyamaca Street.

Students are sheltering in place as crews work to identify the source of the smell. Three people who reported feeling sick were treated at the scene.

Deputies have shut down Cuyamaca Street between Mast Boulevard and Mission Creek Drive. Please avoid this area if you can.
