On Sunday October 18, 2015 at about 5:32 PM, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center received a call about a robbery that just occurred at a market in the 7100 block of Highway 116 in the unincorporated region of Cotati. The owner of the market told the dispatcher that his employee called him stating that she had just been robbed.
On arrival, Deputies spoke with the clerk. They learned that a Hispanic male the store alone. He went into a back of the store, then came to the register as if to pay for items. He handed the clerk a note, demanding the money from the register. The clerk handed-over approximately $300 cash. The man tried to steal her cell phone but instead she gave him the store’s landline.
The clerk pointed out to the man that he was being recorded on the store’s surveillance camera. The man then looked directly at the camera.
The man then ran to his truck, parked directly in front of the store, and drove westbound on Highway 116, towards Sebastopol. A county-wide alert was broadcast in an effort to find of the suspect and his truck.
The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in solving this crime. The case is currently under investigation by the Violent Crimes Detectives. Attached are two photographs: one of the suspect and one of his truck.
He was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 25-30 years old, 6`0", 170 pounds, brown eyes, black hair, and was clean shaven. He was dressed in a black polo shirt with a light colored undershirt, light blue jeans, and a distinctive black hat with grey and white stripes and a short bill. He was driving an early to mid-2000’s light blue Chevy or GMC extended cab pick-up truck with tinted rear windows bearing a license plate ending in the numbers 33.
