The NPD has an important message for you! October is National Bullying Prevention Month
Unity Day – Wednesday, October 21, 2015
Unity Day, the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month, has been recognized in the United States since 2011. To participate in Unity Day, individuals, schools, communities, and businesses wear or display orange to show support for students who have been bullied.
The City of Newark supports Unity Day. Make it ORANGE and make it end! What are your true colors when it comes to bullying? If you care about safe and supportive schools and communities make your color ORANGE on Unity Day. That’s the day everyone can come together—in schools, communities, and online — and send one large ORANGE message of support, hope, and unity to show that we are united against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.
Many City of Newark employees, including members of its Police Department will be wearing orange wristbands to show support for this cause. You are also encouraged to wear orange every day throughout the month of October for National Anti-bullying Month to raise awareness to the anti-bullying movement. This campaign is taking place not only in Newark but all over the country.
Please be sure to wear orange where ever you are on Unity Day (10/21/15) to show your support to stop bullying in our community.
