Residential Burglary Suspects in Custody

Residential Burglary Suspects Arrested

On October 13, 2015 at 10:26 AM an alert homeowner on Laurel Canyon Drive heard knocking on her front door, followed by loud shattering glass and movement inside of her home. She ran out the front door and called 9-1-1. Officers arrived on scene and quickly established a perimeter. They heard movement inside the residence and then observed two Hispanic males jumping a rear fence into the fields to the rear of the yard. A subsequent foot chase took place and after 10 minutes the suspects were apprehended in a creek bed adjacent to Dublin Canyon Road.
Arrested on felony charges of burglary and conspiracy, as well as for the misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest, were 25-year-old Vidal Eduardo Torres and 22-year-old Israel Diaz-Rondan, both residents of Oakland. The two men were interviewed by detectives with Pleasanton PD’s Criminal Investigations Unit, where they are now being looked at for their possible involvement in similar burglaries within Pleasanton and other jurisdictions throughout the Bay Area. Following their interviews, the suspects were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
Detectives conducted a probation search at the suspect’s home in Oakland where numerous items of suspected stolen property were located. Detectives are now working to identify the owners of the property and to connect Torres and Diaz-Rondan to other burglaries they may have committed in Pleasanton.
The apprehension of these suspects would not have been possible without the homeowner’s immediate call to the Police Department. Residents are reminded that a safe community is everybody’s business, and that by working in partnership with the Police Department we can become better together. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who may have additional information to provide, is asked to call the Pleasanton Police Department at 925-931-5100.
