On 10/10/15, at approximately 10:01 PM, a Chula Vista Police Patrol Officer observed a motorcyclist traveling at a high rate speed westbound on Olympic Parkway near Heritage Road. A traffic stop was initiated near I-805 and Orange Avenue by the Officer activating the patrol vehicles emergency lights and siren. The motorcyclist failed to yield, sped up in attempt to evade and exited at Telegraph Canyon Road.

The motorcyclist continued westbound on L Street at a high rate of speed, entered the oncoming traffic lane and collided with a pickup truck traveling eastbound. The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in a private driveway. The pursuing Officer arrived on scene and discovered that the motorcycle was driven by an adult male and he had sustained serious injuries.

The occupants of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries. The motorcyclist was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of the on-scene investigation, it appears speed is a factor in the collision. It is unknown whether or not the motorcyclist was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The Chula Vista Police Traffic Division will be conducting the investigation.
