Oakland Police Department Would Like to Make the Public Aware

Oakland, CA — The Oakland Police Department would like to make the public aware of a suspected sexual predator who uses an employment scam to lure victims.

In August of 2015, OPD was contacted by a victim who said she posted her resume on Craig’s List. The victim was contacted by a man claiming to be an executive assistant of a well-known communications company. The victim was told that the company was interested in hiring her for the position and offered significant perks. She was asked to submit her photograph.

The victim met the suspect, who now was claiming to be the vice president of the company. The suspect convinced the victim to have sex with him in exchange for consideration for the job. Later, the woman realized that the employment offer was a scam. She contacted the police.

The suspect in this case has been identified and is currently in custody on a parole violation while the investigation continues. The suspect has previous convictions in Southern California for victimizing other women with the same scam.

The suspect is described as a male Hispanic in his late forties, 5'10”, 182 lbs, brown eyes and black hair.

The Oakland Police Department is concerned that other victims may have fallen prey to this scam, but have not come forward.

Additional victims or people with information regarding this case are asked to call the Oakland Police Department Special Victims Unit at (510) 238-3641.
