*3rd Update* George L Delgado, 53, of Pico Rivera, Charged with Murder
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced today that 53-year-old George Luis Delgado of Pico Rivera has been charged with one count of murder, where he was accused of fatally stabbing another man in Whittier.
The felony complaint includes a special allegation that the defendant personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife, during the commission of the crime.
Sheriff’s Homicide detectives investigated the incident and found that on September 26, 2015, Delgado reportedly arrived at his ex-girlfriend's Whittier home and confronted the woman and her new boyfriend, Tyrone Duran, 42.
Duran subsequently left the area, but returned some time later, and allegedly was faced by Delgado again and the two men got into a fight.
During the physical struggle, Delgado reportedly stabbed Duran. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Eleven days after the incident, authorities located Delgado and arrested him in connection with the killing.
Delgado is scheduled to be arraigned today at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Downey Branch in Department 4. Prosecutors will ask bail be set at $1 million.
This case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau. Original news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
