“Police Blotter” Highlights – Ending October 4th, 2015

BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Sept. 28th through Sunday, Oct. 4th, there were four reported residential burglaries and one attempt:
• 3100 block of San Juan Pl.: Occurred between Sunday, Sept. 27th at 8:30 p.m., and Monday, Sept. 28th at 7:45 a.m. The side garage door was pried or forced open, and the loss included tools and bicycles. Thanks to some great policing work by Ofc. Fonseca, three suspects were ultimately arrested for burglary and/or possession of stolen property: Tiffany Pry, a 25-year-old Hayward resident; George Larry, a 41-year-old transient; and Robert Navarro, a 42-year-old Hayward resident.
• 32000 block of Alvarado-Niles Rd.: Occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 29th, between 7:45 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Unknown method of entry, and the loss included electronics.
• 20 block of Union Square: Occurred between Monday, Sept. 7th at 12 a.m., and Wednesday, Sept. 30th at 6 p.m. The bicycle storage area of the complex was pried open, and a bike was stolen.
• 33300 block of Mission Blvd.: Occurred on Sunday, Oct. 4th, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. The screen door was forced open, and the sliding door was left open by the resident. Some items were moved around, but there was no loss.
• 5800 block of Carmel Way (attempt only): The screen was removed from the master bedroom window, but no entry was made.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Sept. 28th through Sunday, Oct. 4th, there was one reported commercial burglary:
• 100 block of Appian Way: Occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 29th, around 3:30 p.m. A suspect walked into a business, took the store’s credit card machine from the front counter, and fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was located in the area, and a search of the residence where it was parked yielded a backpack with the stolen credit card machine and six others. Alicia Cardenas, a 34-year-old Manteca resident, was arrested.

AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, Sept. 28th through Sunday, Oct. 4th, there were eight reported auto burglaries. Seven of them occurred in the Union Landing shopping center, and almost all of them involved items that were left in plain view on the floorboards or seats. One possible suspect was identified after an observant witness provided the license plate number to a UCPD dispatcher. Safety Tip: As a reminder, never leave items of value inside your vehicle!

From Monday, Sept. 28th through Sunday, Oct. 4th, there were four reported vehicle thefts. As of the time of this report, two of the vehicles have been recovered.
