Report No. C15028663

Media Release (update)

Hawaiʻi Island police have charged a second Captain Cook man with multiple offenses in connection with the theft of a car last week from a home in Kailua-Kona.

On September 27, a 2004 Audi sedan was stolen from a locked garage at a home on the 73-4300 block of Halemau Street. Other items were also taken.

Last week 21-year-old Kolton Bannister of Captain Cook was arrested for that incident and charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, burglary, unauthorized possession of personal confidential information and two counts of theft.

On Monday (October 5) Kona Patrol officers located a second suspect, 20-year-old Dyllan Paulo-Leslie of Captain Cook, and arrested him on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. He was taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.

At 11 a.m. Tuesday (October 6), detectives charged him with burglary, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, unauthorized possession of personal confidential information, theft/forgery of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card, two counts of forgery and five counts of theft. His bail was set at $23,500.

He remains at the cellblock pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Wednesday (October 6).

Police caution the public to remove items from their vehicles that contain personal information, which could lead to unauthorized access to bank accounts.
